Alpen Capital and Bank Sarasin-Alpen launched the book “Portraits of the Game III” by Shyam Bhatia at a private event held at the Shyam Bhatia Cricket Museum on 10th December 2013. The book was unveiled by David Richardson, Chief Executive, International Cricket Council and Rohit Walia, Executive Chairman, Alpen Capital & Member of the Board, Bank Sarasin-Alpen in the presence of the national cricket teams of Sri Lanka and Pakistan.
All proceeds towards the sponsorship of the book will go towards the organization- “Cricket for Care”- set up by Shyam Bhatia to support the game of cricket. Cricket for Care over the last five years has made donations worth over USD 2 million to 12 countries, by which cricket kits have been provided to underprivileged children through national and local cricket boards and councils.
The book ‘Portraits of the Game’ compiled by Shyam Bhatia highlights memorable experiences of renowned cricket players and the principles they uphold which have lead them to be successful in the game. The third edition of the book features a compilation of the experiences of 12 new cricket players in addition to the players included in the last two books.
"We are happy to provide our support to Cricket for Care. It is indeed a great initiative to encourage the game of cricket and provide people in developing countries with the right tools and training to understand the game," says Rohit Walia, Executive Chairman, Alpen Capital & Member of the Board, Bank Sarasin-Alpen.
"‘Portraits’ is my way of giving back to the sport of cricket and bringing it to those who don’t have access to it. I am extremely thankful to all the cricketing heroes who gave their time and patience to be a part of the book. I also take this opportunity to thank Alpen Capital and Bank Sarasin-Alpen for their support towards the game of cricket," says Shyam Bhatia, Philanthropist and Publisher of the Book ‘Portraits of the Game III’.
